Winnie Odinga delights mourners with mimicry of Raila’s family tree during Berly’s burial

Winnie Odinga once again stole the show in her family’s burial ceremony as she captivated the crowd with the genealogical recount of her family line during her aunt Beryl Achieng Odinga’s burial on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The youngest daughter of Raila Odinga has on several occasions pulled the crowd with her oratory speech and suave personality, drawing parallels to her late father.

Rising to the podium on the invitation of her mom, Winnie went full throttle in Raila’s most famous anecdotes, shifting the mood with a masterful imitation of one of her father’s speeches that kept the crowds hanging on to his words in rallies.

Family lineage

“Junior talked about our family to the 13th generation. But Baba and I studied it further to our origins in Bahr El Ghazal in South Sudan,” she said.

She went on to state the famous Raila lines about his “Wanga origin from Wanga to Matara to Raila.

Winnie further forecast the conversation between her now deceased aunt and her father. joking that the two must be laughing together.

“The two are now laughing; perhaps Baba is telling him, ‘Why didn’t you follow me faster?’” she jibed.

“We have people who think that since we are young, we don’t know these things,” she bragged a bit as she concluded.

Raila’s reincarnation

The outspoken daughter of the late ODM leader has recently earned plaudits as the embodiment of her father, with her latest speech giving more credence to the comparisons.

In past remarks, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa hailed Odinga as a true reflection of his late father’s commanding charisma.

The vocal lawmaker stated that Winnie’s eloquence was proof enough that Raila’s spirit was shining anew in her.

“She embodies her father’s commanding charisma while rooted in genuine humility. May our merciful Lord embrace her with serenity and grace,” the MP added.
