Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda has blasted Deputy President William Ruto during the ongoing rally at Bukhungu stadium where Luhya community are expected to, in one accord, endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga as their preferred presidential candidate.

“When Raila was fighting for democracy in this county you (Ruto) were still in school. When Raila was fighting this country, you were busy stealing,” Kamanda said.

He also claimed that Ruto has never done anything for the country to warrant a presidential seat and that he needs to vie for the presidency at least three times and fail before Kenyans considers him for the seat.

The nominated MP also said President Uhuru Kenyatta will campaign for Raila in central region ahead of August 2022 polls.

“Ruto thought Mt Kenya votes were his. Raila is now there and he is enjoying huge support. Once Uhuru campaigns for Baba, he will get 80 per cent support in the region,” he said.

Kamanda lost to Charles Njaguar in Starehe Constituency, Nairobi County in the 2017 general elections.
