Odhiambo: Here is why Tusker should expect tough encounter against KCB

By , February 18, 2024

Tusker FC’s wingback Levin Odhiambo is bracing himself for a challenging showdown against KCB Football Club as the two teams gear up for their clash on Sunday.

Set to take place at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, the FKF Premier League encounter sees Tusker aiming to secure a double victory over KCB, having triumphed 5-0 in their first-leg fixture held at Police Sacco back in January.

Tusker’s challenge

Despite the small gap between the matches, Odhiambo anticipates a tougher challenge this time around due to KCB’s recent signings.

He emphasizes the need for his team to approach the game with fresh determination, putting aside their previous success against the opponents.

“KCB has had some good signings in mid-season and I believe when they come for this second leg they will be a different team and tougher than the first leg. We have to be ready and not have the same mentality that it will be the same like the first leg,” Odhiambo said in an interview with Tusker Media.

Tusker head to the upcoming fixture buoyed by their recent 4-0 victory over Shabana, a result that has bolstered team morale and motivation according to Odhiambo.

Good training for Tusker

“We want to continue from where we left. We have had a good week in training and everyone is looking ready. Going into the Shabana game, everyone wanted to win because of what happened in the first leg and I believe the motivation from that victory will push us more into Sunday’s game,” he added.

In other fixtures scheduled for Sunday, Sofapaka FC will kick off early against Muhoroni Youth at Machakos Stadium before paving the way for Tusker FC to play KCB.

At 3:00 p.m., Kariobangi Sharks will battle FC Talanta at Police Sacco, while Kakamega Homeboyz prepare to host AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium.

With AFC Leopards eyeing a double victory in the Ingo Derby after their previous win, they enter the match on a seven-game unbeaten streak, showcasing formidable form.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz seek to bounce back from their recent slump, having secured just one win since their defeat to Leopards in December.

In their history of 19 meetings, both teams have claimed victory seven times each, with five matches ending in draws.
