Speaker Wetang’ula hits out at leaders opposed to national unity, cabinet changes
National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetang’ula, has termed those opposed to national unity and the newly named broad-based cabinet as troublemakers.
Speaking after a church service at ACK Ngambwa in Bungoma County, Wetang’ula expressed his hope that prayer would encourage those opposed to national unity to join the rest of the nation in pushing efforts to unite the country.
Wetang’ula credits
Wetang’ula insisted that the country is on a healing trajectory and credited the Kenya Kwanza government for recognizing that the nation is bigger than any individual.
He commended the leadership for acknowledging that unity is the first step towards building a better nation and stated that the recent cabinet appointments demonstrated inclusivity, which is essential for the country’s healing process.
“Nchi iko sasa kwa trajectory of healing na tunashukuru serekali yetu ya Kenya Kwanza na mzee Raila Odinga na chama chake cha ODM kukubali kwamba Kenya is bigger than individuals, kukubali together we can build a better Kenya. Kukubali in the government, there is room for everybody kwa sababu this is the only way we can heal our country.
(The country is now on a trajectory of healing, and we thank our Kenya Kwanza government and elder Raila Odinga and his ODM party for acknowledging that Kenya is bigger than individuals, for accepting that together we can build a better Kenya. For agreeing that in the government there is room for everybody because this is the only way we can heal our country.),” Wetang’ula stated on Saturday, July 28, 2024.
Wetang’ula’s prayer
“Na tunaomba Mungu atusaidie wale wakorofi hawataki umoja wa nchi wabadilike na wajoin hii msafara wa kuunganisha nchi. (And we pray that God helps those troublemakers who do not want national unity to change and join this journey of uniting the country.),” he added.
His comments come after several leaders, including those from the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition such as the Wiper Democratic Movement, Jubilee Party, Narc Kenya, and DAP-K, maintained that they would not engage in dialogue or join the government.
