Weatherman warns of sunny and dry conditions in most parts of the country
By Kiprono Keileb, November 11, 2025Kenyans are being urged to prepare for a week of mixed weather conditions as the country experiences both extreme heat and cold nights in different regions.
In its weekly update shared on X on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Kenya Meteorological Department stated that most parts of the country are likely to experience sunny and dry conditions. However, rainfall will still be observed in select areas.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is expected in some areas of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coastal region, South-Eastern Lowlands, Western, and North-Eastern Kenya,” read part of the forecast.

The weatherman cautioned that daytime temperatures will rise sharply in several parts of the country, particularly in the coastal and northern regions, where scorching conditions are expected to persist.
“Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-Eastern, and North-Western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands and Western Kenya,” the statement added.

However, as the sun blazes in some regions, others will experience biting cold at night, with temperatures expected to drop below 10°C in areas around the Central Highlands and Mt. Kilimanjaro.
“Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and around Mt. Kilimanjaro,” said the department.
The Met Department also reviewed weather patterns from the previous week, noting that rainfall was recorded in several parts of the country, with some areas experiencing very heavy downpours.

“Very heavy rainfall (above 50mm in 24 hours) was observed in Makueni, Garissa, Kitui, Murang’a, and Migori Counties. The Mbitini Station (Makueni County) recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall: 70.4mm on 8th November 2025,” the update stated.
Meanwhile, Mandera recorded the highest daily maximum temperature at 38.4°C on November 3, while Nyahururu experienced the lowest minimum temperature of 6.9°C on November 5. With the contrasting weather patterns across the country, Kenyans are advised to stay alert and dress appropriately for the changing conditions as the month progresses.
