Weatherman lists areas set to receive heavy rainfall in the next 7 days
By Kiprono Keileb, October 21, 2025The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that several parts of the country should brace for increased rainfall over the next seven days, with some areas expected to experience isolated heavy downpours.
In its latest forecast covering October 21 to 27, 2025, the department said that rainfall is likely to increase across key regions, including the Central Highlands (among them Nairobi), the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, the South-eastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya.

“Rainfall is likely to increase this week across several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions. Residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions,” the weatherman said in a statement on Tuesday, October 21, 2025

The department cautioned that the expected rainfall could trigger localised flooding in some regions, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, urging residents to plan their movements and activities accordingly.
At the same time, the forecast revealed that daytime temperatures above 30°C will continue to be experienced in the Coastal, North-eastern, and North-western regions, while night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The statement also reviewed the weather patterns observed between October 13 and 19, 2025 noting that rainfall had already been recorded across several parts of the country.
“Rainfall was recorded over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria Basin,” the department reported.

Eldoret Meteorological Station recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall amount of 40.0 mm on October 19th, while Mandera registered the highest daily maximum temperature of 38.0°C on October 13, 2025. On the colder side, Nyahururu recorded the lowest daily minimum temperature of 4.6°C on October 14, 2025.
The department advised Kenyans to stay informed by referring to official updates and forecast maps for detailed rainfall distribution and intensity across the regions. “Residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions,” the statement concluded.
