Wanjigi criticises govt over ‘poor’ KCSE results
Safina Party presidential candidate Jimi Wanjigi on Monday criticized the government for its “failure” in the education sector following the just released KCSE results.
The politician stated that education is fundamental for achieving full human potential, however it is “shameful” and alarming that 82 per cent of our children have been condemned as failures for their grades being lower than C+.
He has castigated the recently introduced CBC system for focusing on churning out laborers as opposed to innovators.
Wanjigi said that there is a general sense of hopelessness and uncertainty being experienced by students, parents and teachers.
This has led to disinterest, desperation and frustration heightened by joblessness and high cost of living.
If elected to high office, he has pledged to introduce quality education and learning which is key to economic growth, social justice and equality, scientific advancement and national integration.
“Kenya deserves an educational system that is second to none. One that is strong, inclusive and equitable for all learners regardless of social and economic background. We should be an education and innovation hub in Africa,” Wanjigi stated.
