By , December 10, 2025

Recently sworn-in Mbeere North MP Leonard Wamuthende has unveiled his 100-day roadmap following his election.

Speaking on a local radio station on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Wamuthende said he has begun implementing the promises outlined in his campaign manifesto, which helped him secure a razor-thin victory of 400 votes over his Democratic Party (DP) opponent, Newton Kariuki.

He revealed that in January 2026, he will launch several road construction and water projects to address critical challenges in Mbeere North, including water shortages, limited electricity connectivity, and the need for bursaries.

“Kwa hizo siku 100 hio mambo ambayo mtaona ya kwanza ni busary, ile mambo niliahidi ya shule, mambo ya Barabara, miradi za maji,” wamuthende said.

Wamuthende also stated that immediately after being sworn in at the National Assembly, he visited the office of Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Infrastructure, Davis Chirchir, to follow up on roads slated for construction in his constituency and the Energy PS.

“Immediately i was sworn in, I went to the Ministry of Roads to follow up on roads to be constructed in my constituency, and if I am unable to deliver, I won’t seek to be re-elected again.”

He assured residents that, given the limited time until the next general election, these initial projects will be his top priority. He added that if he fails to deliver, he will not seek their votes again in 2027.

On education, Wamuthende pledged that all-day secondary schools in the constituency will be free, with no school fees charged.

He further announced plans to establish an education fund to support sponsored students through tertiary education.

The fund will be supported through a fundraising initiative, in which he intends to engage his colleagues in the National Assembly to mobilise resources.

Challenging his win

These announcements come as the United Opposition prepares a case to challenge his election victory, citing irregularities in the Mbeere North by-elections that they claim favoured Wamuthende.
