Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi has reiterated that his administration’s fight against corruption in the county is unstoppable and that eliminating the vice is his ‘priority project’.
The governor said his zeal and vigour to dismantle corruption cartels, which had emptied county coffers, is gradually materializing.
He says that after sealing all the loopholes which corrupt cartels were using to steal county funds, his administration has managed to clear part of the Sh7b debt it owed workers, creditors and contractors.
Speaking at Kirigiti Stadium during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, the county boss said that he would relentlessly and fearlessly intensify the fight against corruption and warned culprits that their days with the courts of law are drawing nearer.
“When I assumed office, I found a debt of Sh7 billion which the county owed to various individuals and contractors. As I talk, we have managed to pay all casual and permanent and pensionable workers all their dues and starting this week, we shall start paying 70 contractors and creditors who we owe money,” he said.
He added; “Corruption flights back and hence you will more often than not continue hearing unnecessary noise here and there but that won’t distract us from doing what Wanjiku elected us to do”.
The governor who served as area Senator for two consecutive terms before becoming the county boss assured locals that they will no longer experience or hear about corrupt cartels wandering in the county hoping to loot and plunder public funds.
