Wamae urges activists to focus on Kenya and avoid foreign countries after Njagi, Oyoo’s release
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 8, 2025Former Roots Party running mate Justina Wamae has advised Kenyan activists to stick to their country and avoid unnecessary involvement in foreign territories following the release of activists Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo.
In a statement shared on her social media platforms on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Wamae expressed her relief after the duo’s safe return from Uganda, where they had been abducted and held incommunicado for several weeks before being handed over to Kenyan authorities at the Busia border.
She cautioned activists against operating beyond Kenyan borders, saying that other countries can be dangerous and unpredictable.
According to Wamae, issues affecting Ugandans do not concern Kenyans, and citizens should refrain from meddling in their neighbours’ internal matters.
She insisted that Kenya has its own pressing challenges that require attention, noting that it is better for activists to focus their energy on addressing local problems rather than engaging in the affairs of other countries.

“Lakini kila mtu acheze kwao. These other countries are dangerous, Jamani. We thank God for their safe return. Mambo ya Uganda hayatuhusu ndewe wala sikio; we have bigger fish to fry,” Wamae states.
Release of abducted activists
Her remarks came shortly after the two activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who had been missing for over a month, were safely repatriated to Kenya through the Busia border, an operation coordinated by Kenyan and Ugandan authorities.
The handing over was done by Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda Joash Maangi.

VOCAL Africa, the Law Society of Kenya, and Amnesty International Kenya welcomed the release of Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi after 39 days of their enforced disappearance.
Uhuru’s role in repatriating activists
Vocal Africa has also come out to hail former President Uhuru Kenyatta for his efforts in ensuring the safe release and repatriation of activists Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo to Kenya.
“We extend our appreciation to the Kenyan and Ugandan governments at the highest level and the immediate former President of Kenya for their cooperation towards their safe return. We thank their families, Free Kenya movement colleagues, human rights defenders, journalists, diplomats and active citizens who have tirelessly campaigned for this moment,” VOCAL Africa said.
While commending Uhuru Kenyatta for his role, the organisations also expressed gratitude to the Ugandan authorities who assisted in ensuring the safe return of the abducted activists, who had been held incommunicado for 38 days.
