Nairobi lawyer Amos Otieno popularly known as ‘Wakili’ received a boost in his campaigns when about 50 delegates from Nairobi endorsed him for the position of Nairobi East branch chairman ahead of Saturday’s Football Kenya Federation (FKF) polls.

The delegates representing clubs from Mwiki, Kamkunji, Rauraka, Baba Dogo, Makadara, Kasarani, Umoja, Huruma, Dandora and Shauri Moyo among others, resolved that they would back the former Kasarani sub branch chairman at the polls to make him there new branch boss.

They were talking during the finals of the Ruaraka Cup where Lucky Summer Warriors beat Paparazi FC 8-7 on post-match penalties to be crowned champions after playing to a barren draw during regular time.

Otieno vowed to carry a detailed audit to all the branch’s accounts within 100 days as a way of introducing accountability into the office.

He also promised to waiver registration fees for clubs in the county and sort the issue of referees payments.

“Since the decision to cancel the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is going to be nullified, it will be the same thing to the lower leagues, so let the teams not worry about the registration fees for the new season,” Otieno said.

He added: “My key agenda will be to support women and kids football. I will also borrow a leaf from Nairobi West on how to sort the thorny referees issue.”
