Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome took to the streets on Friday night July 19, 2024, to celebrate after President William Ruto re-nominated her back to cabinet.
Wahome was joined by a large crowd of people as she celebrated her second chance to serve Kenyans in Ruto’s government.
A visibly overjoyed Alice Wahome joined the Kandara residents in song and dance for her nomination back to the cabinet.
She later addressed the residents while standing on top of her car.
Message to Ruto
Alice Wahome sent her gratitude to President William Ruto for nominating her as Lands Cabinet Secretary.
Wahome described the nomination as a clear indication of the President’s belief in her leadership qualities.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank God for this second opportunity to serve the country and then secondly President William Ruto for finding it fit to give me this job a second time.
“It is not a privilege but a big honour and responsibility which I confirm my personal commitment for the job,” Wahome who was surrounded by the locals told the press.
She vowed to face the vetting panel with her head held high with clear hopes of going through that process successfully.
Appeal to Kenyans
At the same time, she appealed to Kenyans to give President Ruto time and allow the policies and changes adopted to be implemented.
She argued that constant protests would destabilise the country and water down the progress made by previous regimes.
Wahome is among the six former Cabinet Secretaries who were included in the first batch of CSs named by President Ruto on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Others include Prof. Kithure Kindiki -Ministry of the Interior and National Administration, Aden Barre Duale – Ministry of Defence, Roselinda Soipan Tuiya -Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Rebecca Miano – Attorney-General and Davis Chirchir -Ministry of Roads and Transport.
“I have started the process of forming a new, broad-based cabinet to assist me in driving the urgently needed and irreversible transformation of our country. I hereby nominate the following first batch of 11 individuals for consideration and approval by the National Assembly for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General,” Ruto remarked.
New entrants include Debra Mlongo Barasa (Health), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), Andrew Mwihia Karanja (Agriculture), Eric Muriithi Mugaa (Water) and Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u (ICT).
