Vihiga residents warned against vilifying other communities over Osotsi attack
By Enock Amukhale, April 11, 2026Vihiga residents have been asked not to take revenge against their neighbours from Kisumu during their protests to condemn the attack on their senator, Godfrey Osotsi.
The protesting residents have instead been asked to remain peaceful as the authorities continue pursuing the criminals who attacked and assaulted Senator Osotsi in Kisumu.
Luanda MP Dick Maungu, while addressing Luanda residents on Saturday, April 11, 2026, during their peaceful demonstration, said the act of goons should not spoil the good relationship between the lakeside and western regions.

He said they should push for the arrest of the goons captured on CCTV and their sponsors to face the full force of the law.
“As we protest to castigate the act of goonism meted out to our senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu, Sir, let us also maintain peace. Let us not let the act of goons break our good relationship with our neighbours from Kisumu. What we are demanding is the arrest of the goons and their sponsors,” Maungu said.
Maungu’s plea
Maungu also demanded a clear response from internal security cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, ODM party national chairperson Gladys Wanga and Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda over the attack on senator Osotsi.
Maungu noted with concern the rising incidences of goons being used to intimidate people in the country by the key people in the government.
He said such acts are carried out merely on account of differing political views.
He said such acts are regrettable and wholly unacceptable.

Maungu said as a nation, we are guided by the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
He noted that Chapter Four clearly guarantees every citizen the fundamental rights and freedoms to life, dignity, equality, and association.
“No Kenyan should suffer harm or intimidation for exercising these God-given and constitutionally protected rights,” Maungu said.
Clergy’s plea
ACK Diocese of Maseno North Archbishop Charles Asilutwa said, ‘From a Christian perspective, we are reminded that every human being is created in the image of God and deserves respect, dignity, and protection.’
Asilutwa said the acts of violence, intimidation, and political intolerance are not only unlawful but also contrary to the teachings of Christ, who calls us to love one another and to live in peace.
“As we approach the next general election, this incident serves as a painful reminder of the urgent need for tolerance, restraint, and respect for diverse opinions,” Asilutwa cautioned.
He noted that democracy thrives not in uniformity of thought but in the peaceful coexistence of differing views.
“I therefore condemn this cowardly act of violence meted out on Senator Osotsi. I call upon the Inspector General of Police to act swiftly and decisively to apprehend those responsible and ensure that justice is served without delay,” Asilutwa urged.
He added. “On behalf of myself and the faithful of the ACK Diocese of Maseno North, where Senator Osotsi is a member, I extend our heartfelt prayers for his quick recovery and restoration to full health. May the Lord grant him strength, healing, and peace during this time. Let us, as a nation, choose the path of peace, justice, and not political enmity.”
