Vihiga County has appointed eight members to serve on the newly launched Sports Board Committee.

The committee that will be chaired by Albert Masiolo will work with the county government to harmonise and bring together all sporting activities and streamline them.

Deputy governor Patrick Saisi, who also serves as the  Gender, Culture, Youth and Sports executive, believes the team has the experience and knowledge to help transform the county into a sporting hub.

Vihiga is fast emerging as a football hub with the Kenya Women Premier League giants Vihiga Queens and National Super League sides Vihiga united and Vihiga Bullets all hailing from the county.

“We believe the county has the potential to produce the best talents in all sporting disciplines that we need to exploit but we need to look into ways of improving the infrastructure so that we can get the best.

“With the vast experience by the board members, we have confidence they will deliver and give confidence to key stakeholders,” said Saisi.

Masiolo thanked the county for the appointment and promised to bring all the major stakeholders together for the benefit of sport.
