Former Kanu vice-chairman Eastern region Francis Kalinzoya has called on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency in next year’s election.

Kalinzoya, who served under the chairmanship of the late Ukambani kingpin Mulu Mutisya, told the community to read the signs of the times and vote carefully.

Speaking yesterday at a burial ceremony at Ngonda Village in Matungulu constituency, Kalinzoya said the community risked staying out of government for a long time unless it aligned itself with the most likely winner in the 2022 General-Election.

Kalinzoya (pictured) said those telling Musyoka not to support Raila were deliberately misleading him for selfish reasons.

“I love Kalonzo and I will tell him the truth. We as a community should consider the number of votes we have and the resources which we can contribute to drive his bid.

We have not even contributed enough to mobilise for registration of voters as others have done,” said Kalinzoya adding that the community’s demand  that Kalonzo runs for president should be realistic.

Kalinzoya said time had come for the Kamba community to hold a meeting and come up with a resolution which will see the community represented in the next government.

Recently, Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule said putting the community’s votes in one basked was not a good idea.

Kyule said contrary to what many leaders from the community were advocating for, voting for one candidate would confine the community to the opposition should their candidate fail to win.
