Varsity inks deal with Sports Legal to promote sports management
Zetech University has inked a deal with Sports Legal that will see the two institutions increase collaboration, cooperation and interaction for further promotion and understanding of Sports Management in the country.
Sports Legal is a non-profit sports organization that promotes the contribution of the power of sport to Sustainable Development.
The two institutions are expected to embark on promotion of education forums and other academic programs on sports management besides endeavoring to encourage students and staff to spend time researching and teaching Sports Education in their respective universities.
In the deal signed by Zetech University Vice-Chancellor Professor Njenga Munene and Sports Legal Director and C.E.O, Khayran Noor, the two entities will conduct short courses in the field of sports, facilitate the exchange of undergraduate students undertaking sports.
According to the agreement, both parties shall be responsible to organize academic programs and or activities that seek to promote the learning of Sports Education in Kenya and East Africa in general by organizing, promoting, and hosting the said activities.
“The parties undertake to enter into a separate engagement agreement forming part of this MoU, specifying the terms of reference and engagement which shall include the financial arrangements and remuneration packages within 45 days of the signing of the MoU,” read a section of the MOU.
Prof Munene who spoke after the signing of the MOU insisted that the new deal will stimulate and facilitate the development of collaborative and mutually beneficial programs which serve to enhance the intellectual ability of students and the sports fraternity in the field of Sports Management.
The new deal was unveiled a short period after the university launched a course in Sports Management at Diploma and Certificate levels, as it continues to be a pacesetter in balancing sports and books.
The Ruiru-based private university’s women’s football team, Zetech Sparks was recently crowned the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) champions while its men’s basketball team, Zetech Titans took third place in the just concluded 2021 Men’s Sterling Summit Cup Basketball championships.
