Higher learning institutions have been urged to explore courses related to business and transformational leadership in management to help the global entrepreneurial market tap the best minds in the sector.

According to Zetech University Dean of School Prof. Peter Kibas, the huge gap in Trade, Supply-Chain Management, Business Analytics, Business Development, Human Resources among others urgently require to be bridged by well-equipped graduates.

Kibas highlighted the need to prepare the economy drivers at the university level for sustainable and inclusive world.

He stated that competent individuals can examine local, global and intercultural issues, understand and appreciate different perspectives and worldviews, interact successfully and deferentially with others, and take accountable action toward sustainability and communal well-being.

The educationist revealed that the private university has been offering a course in Business and Economics which was established to impact society by producing graduates that are innovative and creative with entrepreneurial mindsets and graduates who are change agents and problem solvers in business, management and society at large.

“The course is uniquely crafted to help our students, staff and faculty re-invent themselves through the unremitting pursuit of discovering knowledge and disseminating good practices,” he said.

Kibas noted that the varsity has adopted a progressive mode of delivering its programs to meet the high demand of entrepreneurs, creatives and researchers required to transform the changing word’s economy.

He reiterated that the changing dynamics in the world of business globally, in light of the emerging crises such as covid-19 and others, require well prepared communicators, critical thinkers, time managers and innovators to drive organizational demands.

“The emphasis is now on skills that improve positive human interaction, understanding, and meaningful relationships and not mere application or reproduction of knowledge. Universities now have to recoin their modules and deploy in their courses concepts such as development of emotional intelligence and social intelligence in self-awareness,” he noted.

Prof Kibas stated that Zetech’s business courses are unique and will help graduates learn to run organizations differently for better results besides propelling them to a wider scope of occupations and careers, including becoming responsible entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders in all sectors nationally and globally.

“To ensure that our graduates have the appropriate cutting-edge knowledge and skills, we engage industry experts in various forums: during the development phase of our training curricula, through the Guest speaker forums and field trips. Students also hands-on skills during their industrial and field attachment in relevant organizations. These engagements are closely monitored and supervised by our experienced faculty and staff to ensure quality. Such encounters expose and prepare our students for what is expected in the world of work upon graduation. Our curricula also incorporate emerging societal issues such as climate change, data-driven decision-making, sustainability, the importance of global cooperation, and issues of social change are no longer wishful issues,” he said.

“Our students are purposefully encouraged to be cognizant of the fact that they won’t work in a vacuum and must scan the environment and be aware of the economic environment, the need for integrity in all matters; including political matters, social responsibility and sustainability, humanistic concerns, diversity, inclusivity and ethics. This is aimed at developing responsible national and global citizens who will make a positive impact and serve a greater purpose. To ensure that we keep abreast with the changes in industry and business, our curricula are reviewed constantly incorporating new frontiers of knowledge and practice,” he added.
