The United Opposition principals are set to tour Malava Constituency in Kakamega County as the race to the upcoming parliamentary contest in the constituency enters its final weeks in the coming days.

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has confirmed the coalition itinerary with only slightly over a week before the decisive mini-polls.

Malava contest

The principals of the faction seem to be leaving nothing to chance and will be heading to the constituency in Kakamega County on Friday, November 21, to drum up support for its candidate, Seth Panyako.

Wamalwa noted that the opposition campaign had so far been greeted with an electric mood across the country, and the team will be concluding their week-long engagement with yet another grand, hotly contested parliamentary contest.

“From Mbeere to Magarini, the energy has been electric, and now we bring that same momentum back home, Ingo, Malava, together with my colleague principals of the United Opposition, whom I’ll be hosting. Let’s meet this Friday and show the country what unity, courage, and the spirit of the people look like. Malava tunakuja kwa Nguvu!” his statement read.

This could mark the first time the opposition leaders hailing from outside the western region join a campaign in the constituency as the race heats up between the government and the opposition team.

Opposition kingpins Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua recently camped in Mbeere North and Magarini Constituency, respectively.

Magarini campaigns

Gachagua claimed that he intended to camp in the Embu County region until its candidate, Newton Ndwiga Karish, is elected as the MP.

Wamalwa’s come after the politician joined a section of leaders in Magarini on Tuesday to ramp up support for Stanley Karisa, the opposition candidate for the Magarini parliamentary seat. Leby Wiper Party leader Musyoka and DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malala, the team implored voters to back the former deputy speaker of Kilifi County in his candidature.

Kenga narrowly lost the 2022 race to ODM’s Harrison Kombe before challenging the results in court.

“Kicked off our joint campaigns at the Coast for the Magarini Constituency Parliamentary by-election candidate Stanley Karisa Kenga at Chakama, Kilifi County with Wiper Party leader, @skmusyoka, @DCP DPL @Cleophasmalala,” Wamalwa said.
