Ukambani governors promise to work with President Ruto
Three Ukambani governors have agreed to work with President William Ruto for the benefit of their people.
Speaking in the first summit meeting of the South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) which took place in Machakos governor’s office, governors Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Julius Malombe and Wavinya Ndeti stated that they will seek the President’s support and collaboration on National programs.
“We will explore opportunities to engage the President of the Republic of Kenya to seek support and collaboration on national programs that are beneficial to our counties,” they said.
They have also noted that they are committed to ensuring they create a good environment to enable youth to engage in meaningful income-generating ventures.
The three county bosses explained their commitment to improving and sustaining irrigated agriculture to ensure food security.
They have urged women and youth groups to nurture tree planting across the three counties to ensure there are enough trees to plant during rainy seasons.
“We will facilitate the groups in nurturing the trees to the end so that even the national government can buy from them,” they said.
They have also promised to ensure the inclusion of SEKEB in the plan by the national government for building mega-dams across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kitui county governor Julius Malombe is the new chairperson of the South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB).
Malombe was handed over the leadership on Tuesday, December 13 at the meeting of the Bloc which was headed by the former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana in the second term of devolution 2017-2022.
