UDA to hold grassroot elections in 3 Counties

President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has opened applications for crucial leadership positions in their grassroots elections expected to happen in three counties.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on June 7, 2024, the party stated that eligible candidates should send in their registrations. 

The grassroots applications which will mainly entail picking party officials will kick off as early as 9.00 am on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Nairobi, Busia, and Homa Bay counties.

According to the party, the application is eligible to all elected polling centre officials including elected or nominated ward representatives. 

All delegates and Constituency officials elected in May 2024 and also those elected in the repeat elections conducted on June 1 and June 5, 2024, are eligible to partake in the grassroots elections.

Additionally, those eligible, it said, have until  June 7, 2024, at 12:00 Midnight to submit their applications.

Venues and timelines

In Nairobi, voting will take place at Hustler Center between 12 pm (noon) and 3 pm, while eligible Busia County delegates will vote at DCC Hall between 9 am and 3 pm.

Likewise, the delegates from Homa Bay will meet at the central office of the Homa Bay Party. The timeframe is 9 am. to 3 pm

Additionally, the notice highlights that Governors, Deputy Governors, Senators, and Women Representatives are encouraged to participate.

It has also been announced that the confirmation deadline will be June 8, 2024, at 4 pm. Delegates are instructed to adhere to these timelines to facilitate a smooth and orderly process.

The elections are being conducted following the conclusion of the grassroots elections under the third phase.

In  Nairobi, the party has 853,000 registered members, Homa Bay (141,000), and  Busia (141,000).
