An Uber driver was yesterday charged with abducting a police officer on Wednesday, with the intent of obstructing him from discharging his duties. Francis Karanja Wango is accused of abducting Inspector Joseph Asugo along Ngong Road within Nairobi county.

The court heard that he resisted lawful arrest by the said Inspector who at the time of the arrest was acting on the due execution of his duty. The Uber driver was also accused of obstruction of traffic on the same day along Ngong Road and KMTC main gate junction within Nairobi county.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and denied the charges. The magistrate released him on a bond of Sh500,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.
