Two university students linked to murder in police custody
Police in Machakos are holding two university students suspected to have played a roe in the killing of a fellow female student on Monday night.
Machakos sub-county police commander Emmanuel Okanda yesterday said they are interrogating the two students from Machakos University and would also record statements from neighbours at the rental house in Katoloni estate where the student was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.
Okanda added that the body of the female student, who was studying Bachelor of Education at the university was found lying inside a house at Diaspora rentals after police were alerted by public.
He said the body had injuries on the head and blood oozing from her ears, nose and ears.
Cried foul
“On Tuesday, we received a report that there was a body belonging to a Machakos University student which was lying inside a house at Diaspora rentals a few kilometres south of the station and established that the deceased’s hands were tied from behind using shoe laces,” Okanda said.
The police boss said preliminary investigations had revealed that the student was murdered on Monday night and that two suspects, including the boyfriend, were arrested and locked up at Machakos police station.
The body was moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
