TSC to hire 20,000 teachers next financial year, says CEO

By , May 26, 2023

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) yesterday told MPs that it will recruit an additional 20,000 teachers in the coming financial year.

TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia (pictured), who had appeared before the National Assembly’s committee on Cohesion and Equal Opportunity to shed light on the composition of the newly recruited 36,000 teachers, told MPs that they had been assured of hiring new teachers in the 2023/2024 financial year.

The move comes at a time when the Budget and Appropriations Committee (BAC) chaired by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is collecting views relating to the budget estimates from various house committees ahead of the reading of the budget next month.
