Trans Nzoia: Governor asks National Government to release Covid-19 funds

Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba has asked the National Government to release funds to counties to fight Covid-19.
He said Counties were incapacitated due to the failure of the Treasury to release funds to the devolved units exposing them to crisis.
“Covid-19 is both a public health and economic emergency. As noted in the Council of governors’ previous supplemental request, we will continue to seek for increase in Funding to help address the needs of our people who have lost their jobs and livelihoods due to COVID-19. This increase should apply to all 47 counties,” said Mr. Khaemba.
The County boss was speaking at the headquarters in Kitale when he received when he received 100 bags of maize donated by the Kitale Pastors and Bishops Fellowship.
Khaemba said the 150-bed capacity Kitale Teaching and Referral Hospital will be opened to ease congestion at Mt. Elgon Hospital which is being used as an isolation centre.
The clergymen through their officials Benjamin Tanguli and Winnie Wanyonyi said the nation was exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic due to lack of capacity and asked Kenyans to remain prayerful in seeking for divine help.
