Roads closed
Motorists and pedestrians passing through Nairobi should brace themselves for major changes in their usual routes after the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced a temporary closure of five major highways in Nairobi County on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
The temporary closure from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm will affect motorists plying the routes of Uhuru Highway, Haile Sellasie Avenue, Bunyala Road, Lower Hill Road, and a section of Langata Road.
KURA General Director Silas Kinoti attributed the temporary closure to a cycling event dubbed ‘Grand Nairobi Bike Race’.
Kinoti further urged motorists to use alternative routes and follow the guide by the traffic police and the marshal.
Reactions on Gachagua’s woes
Politicians from various factions are expected to weigh in on the political predicament that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has found himself in.
Various politicians are expected to take advantage of the religious gatherings around the country to speak their minds concerning an impending impeachment motion against the embattled DP.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar laid out the party’s intentions to expel Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his potential impeachment.
“I am reliably informed by most of our Members of Parliament that many of them from the UDA party have appended their signatures and are in support of that motion of impeachment,” Omar said.
Adding that; “I think we will go with the majority of members of the UDA party. If the majority of members of the UDA party are in support of the impeachment then the UDA party itself will also support what the members feel is in the best interest of the party and the country.”
