Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

Gachagua’s impeachment plot

With Members of Parliament vowing to bring to the House a motion of Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment next week Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the DP seems to be in a battle for survival even as he pleads with President William Ruto to let him finish the remaining three years in their first term.

However, legislators are keen to dispense with the matter before President Ruto flies back into the country after his trip to the United States.

More reactions are expected to dominate news headlines from both allies and foes of the embattled Deputy President.

Weather forecast

The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts that there could be heavy rains, especially in the afternoons, for the next four days in the highland areas east and west of the Rift Valley.

Similarly, regions around the lake basin area including Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties are also expected to experience rains in the latest forecast.

Saturday’s football fixtures

Defending champions Manchester City will be seeking to extend their one-point lead over Liverpool with an early kickoff match today at 2: 30 pm against sixth-placed Newcastle United who have won three of their first five matches.

Other matches that will excite football fans today are Chelsea vs Brighton, Arsenal vs Leicester and Brentford vs Westham all starting at 5: 00 pm,

Later on, at 7: 30 pm, the German side, Bayern Munich, will take on Bayer Leverkusen in a match that is set to pit some of the sport’s greatest talents against each other.

Gor, Police in action

Additionally, Gor Mahia and Police will be taking part in the Premier League for the first time since they were eliminated from the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, respectively.

K’Ogalo will face Mathare United at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, while the Cops will host Tusker at their South C’s pavilion.
