Reactions after fire razes Isiolo school

Reactions are expected to be registered after a fire razed down Isiolo Girls High School on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The Isiolo incident comes after 17 pupils died and 14 were injured following a similar incident that occurred on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, Nyeri County.

“A fire incident has been reported at Isiolo Girls High School, Isiolo County. Response teams activated,” the statement by the humanitarian body read.

Raila intensifies AUC campaigns

Raila Odinga is expected to intensify his African Union Commission chairmanship campaigns in preparation for the vote in February 2025 in Addis Ababa.

Just days after coming back from a trip to China, the former Prime Minister on Saturday, September 7, 2024, renewed his commitment in the race for Africa’s top job, noting that the continent was punching below its weight.

“I want to head to the AUC because I believe Africa is punching below its weight. Africa can do better. Why should African leaders go to China? The Chinese should be the ones coming to Africa. This is one of the things I want to reverse,” Raila remarked.

With a secretariat already in place to facilitate his campaigns, Raila is set to embark on a continental tour to popularise his agenda for the continent against those of his three other opponents in the race.

Kenya Power Sunday blackout

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect several areas across Nairobi, Nakuru, and Bungoma counties on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The utility company attributed this interruption to routine network maintenance.

In Nairobi County, the affected areas include Ruaraka and parts of Eastleigh. Specifically, residents along Lumumba Drive, Mirema Drive, USIU, Panafric, and the Northern Bypass, among others, will experience the outage from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
