Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

1. Vetting of Ruto’s envoy nominees

The vetting process for President William Ruto’s nominees who are candidates for Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Permanent Representatives is set to continue this Thursday.

The proceedings will take place at the County Hall Mini-Chamber, Parliament Buildings, starting at 9:00 am. The nominees scheduled to appear include Wilson Kogo (Canberra, Australia), John Ronald Ekitela (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Amb. Philip Mundia Githiora (Maputo, Mozambique), and Ms. Sabdio Dido Bashuna (Gaborone, Botswana).

2. Kenya Power’s full-year financial results

Kenya Power will unveil its Full Year Financial Results this Thursday at 3:00 pm.

The announcement will feature the Managing Director & CEO Joseph Siror, General Manager Finance, Stephen Vikiru, and representatives from the Senior Management team.

3. Senate Committee sittings

The National Assembly Select Committee on Budget & Appropriations will convene a session in Nairobi. The committee will deliberate on various legislative proposals, including the Chief’s Amendment Bill 2023, the Advocates Amendment Bill, and The National Health Insurance Amendment Bill, among others.

Simultaneously, the National Assembly Committee on Education will meet at the Main Chamber, Parliament Buildings, in the morning.

This meeting will involve discussions with Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, covering topics related to the capitation of learners, scholarships, distribution of textbooks, and digital learning.

4. CHPs Sensitization Day

Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, will launch CHPs Sensitization Day in Githunguri District Commissioner’s Office, Kiambu County, at 10:30 am.

Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are set to play a pivotal role in advancing Primary Health Care with a focus on preventive and promotive health.

The event’s purpose is to equip them with the necessary skills required to effectively execute their role. CHPs will receive training and sensitization on topics including nutrition and maternal care, ensuring they can provide valuable community health services.
