Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s news events.

William Ruto in UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Review:

President William Ruto is in the USA to participate in a gathering of Heads of State and Government at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The purpose of this event is to review the progress made in implementing the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The outcome will be a negotiated political declaration, which may set the direction for global sustainable development efforts.

Launch of Domestic Violence Act/Rules:

On September 18, 2023, Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa and Chief Justice Martha Koome will jointly launch the Protection against Domestic Violence Act and related rules.

This initiative aims to address issues related to domestic violence in Kenya and provide legal protections for victims.

County Public Accounts Committee Meetings:

Uasin Gishu County Assembly and Vihiga County Assembly are scheduled to consider the Auditor General’s Report for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 financial years.

These meetings will likely involve discussions and evaluations of financial matters related to these counties, including budget allocations and expenditures.

The Uasin Gishu event is set for KICC, 1st Floor, Shimba Hills Hall while Vihiga’s session will be at KICC, 1st Floor, VIP Annex II Boardroom.

Harambee Starlets Media Session:

The Football Kenya Federation has organized a media session for the Harambee Starlets, the women’s national football team.

This session will provide insights into the team’s preparations as they get ready to depart for Cameroon for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coach Beldine Odemba and the team are expected to share information about their training and plans for the upcoming competition.
