Three nabbed for stealing Sh7.2m liquor

Three women have been charged before a Nairobi court with stealing alcoholic stock worth Sh7.2 million from their employer.

The three, Pecina Aduma Onyango, Caroline Akinyi Ouma and Margaret Wanjiku Ruguru appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Margret Murage and denied the charges.

The court heard that the three jointly stole the cash meant for alcoholic drinks worth Sh7, 233,919.
According to the charge sheet, the accused persons committed the offence on diverse dates between January 1 and August 13 at an unknown time at Highbury Liquor Shop.

The shop is located along 14 Riverside Drive in Kileleshwa within Nairobi county. Highbury Liquor Shop is the complainant in the case.

Their lawyer urged the court to grant them lenient bond terms and requested that he be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary statements that the prosecution intended to rely on during the entire trials.

The magistrate released her on a Sh2 million bond with a cash bail of Sh200,000 cash bail with the surety of a similar account.

On January 6, DCI officers arrested five people in Eastleigh Estate, Nairobi linked to the sale of illegal milk powder. During the operation, detectives recovered about 25kg full cream milk powder packed in deplorable condition.
