Thieves break into Kisumu County Assembly chambers, steal equipment

By , July 3, 2023

The County Assembly of Kisumu is counting losses after an unknown number of thugs broke into the Assembly’s chambers and stole equipment.

Confirming the incident, the Assembly’s clerk, Oween Ojuok noted that the thugs made their way into the building through the windows where they stole two TV screens used to air live proceedings and a public address system.

Ojuok believes that the act was done by someone well-known in the area.

“It is true unknown thugs broke into our Assembly and took away some equipment,” Owen stated.

While calling on police to move swiftly and arrest the perpetrators, Ojuok expressed shock unable to decipher how the thieves made their way into the building when it had 24-hour clock security from both private and armed officers.

Police who visited the scene vowed to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to book.

Even as police investigate, questions have emerged on how the assembly which is situated between Kisumu Central police station and the Sub-County headquarters was robbed without anyone noticing.
