Embattled former manager of teen star Wendy Waeni, Joseph Mwangi Nduta alias Joe, was yesterday detained for five days to allow police to complete investigations against him.

Wendy is a contortionist, who has performed for audiences around and before presidents, including Uhuru Kenyatta and Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi allowed police to remand Mwangi, at Kilimani Police Station, for five days  instead of seven they  had requested, to probe Mwangi further on alleged threats on Waeni’s mother.

The suspect is being investigated over forgery and threatening Waeni’s mother, Magdalene Mbele Syombua.

“The suspect forged a letter purporting to be the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and sent it via an email address to the complainant, Syombua, to intimidate her,” said investigating officer Isaac Tenai.

The court was told the suspect is also wanted by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and children protection unit for interrogation for other offences involving the minor.

Mwangi was arrested on Monday after the DCI urged the public to give information on his whereabouts.
