The revenue system used by Nairobi county has taken a new shift after some MCAs accused Governor Johnson Sakaja of interfering with some key witlessness who have been appearing before the ad hoc committee.

Committee chair Peter Imwatok alleged that the county boss has been having secret meetings with some committee members to compromise them.

“It is sad to note that despite us doing the noble work of trying to unearth where revenue in this city goes, I am already aware that the county chief is trying to derail this process.

“We will not allow this to happen. If a leader is not ready to be accountable he should just vacate office,” said Imwatok. This comes after the 60 days that were given to the committee lapsed yesterday.

Imwatok said the ad hoc committee has so far gathered evidence that the current system Nairobi Revenue System (NRS) is amorphous and the county executive will be held accountable.

The claims by Imwatok come even after People Daily learnt that cracks emerged in the 13-member ad hoc committee which was created last year.
