The main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital chief accountant Eric Maigo will remain in custody for seven more days after the prosecution pleaded with the court for more time to conclude investigations.

The State Prosecutor told the Milimani senior principal magistrate Zainabu Abdul to give the investigation team seven more days to allow them to bring the suspect before court on Wednesday next week to face charges.

The prosecutor told Mrs Zainabu that the garments with blood stains which were recovered at the scene of crime are yet to be analysed in government laboratory. “Your honor the garments which were recovered with blood stains at the scene of crime have not been through forensic analysis in the government laboratory,” he said.

He explained to the court that staff in the government laboratory have been busy investigating the Shakahola matter and are yet to conduct the forensic analysis of the blood stains found on the garments. He added that the CCTV footage is also yet to be processed.

“This is a matter of interest to the public and basing on it’s weight I plead with this court to give seven days to conclude the investigation and avail the suspect before court on Wednesday next week with appropriate facts,” he said.

The matter will be mentioned on Wednesday October 25, 2023 for further directions.
