Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has maintained his stance on government church contributions amid heightened criticism.

Speaking on Saturday, May 10, 2025, Sudi affirmed that despite the mounting criticism, the government will never stop issuing donations to churches.

He went on to state that the for the longest time, critics have constantly faulted the government over everything, pointing out that the government needs more time to execute and deliver its campaign promises.

As he defended the ruling regime, Sudi called on electorates not to be influenced by government critics already pushing 2027 politics, and maintain their beliefs that the government means well for them.

“Nilikua naona kwa mtandao watu wakisema ati ooh mnaenda Mathira kufanyia wamama empowerment, mbona msiende sijui wapi; nataka nikuambie wewe mtu wa mtandao, kama huelewi shida ya raia, watu wa boda boda, mama mboga, funga mdomo yako, fanya kazi yako. Nataka niwaambie hamuezi muka tu stop.

Sudi’s message to parents

The latest comes weeks after Sudi appealed to parents to take their children to Sunday school to help them be nurtured and understand the basic tenets in Christianity following criticism of church donations.

The MP who was speaking on Saturday, April 19, 2025, noted that most individuals opposed to President William Ruto’s church donations did not attend Sunday. school.

He referred to the incident in Nairobi’s Roysambu, where hundreds of protesters gathered demanding Bishop Edward Mwai of the Jesus Winner Ministry church surrender a Ksh20 million donation from the head of state.

Mkiona wale wanapinga kanisani hata wale watoto wetu walikuwa wanasema wanaenda kujaribu kurudisha pesa katika ile kanisa ya Kasarani ni kwa sababu wazazi wao hawakuwapeleka Sunday school,” Sudi stated.

Naomba kila mzazi ikiwezekana peleka mtoto wako Sunday school, peleka mtoto wako kanisani atajua maana ya kanisa na atajua taratibu ya kuenda mbinguni,” he added.

Which loosely translates to: “If you see those opposing the church, like those kids who said that they wanted to ask the church in Kasarani to return the donation, it is because their parents did not take them to Sunday school,” Sudi stated.

“I ask every parent if possible take their children to Sunday school, take them to church they will understand the importance of the church and the procedures to heaven,” he added.

Sudi’s comments came in response to  former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who claimed that he handed Ksh2 million to the PCEA Church to silence it from speaking against the government.

The lawmaker dismissed Gachagua’s  remarks accusing him of focusing on minor issues instead of important issues that affect the country.

“You know, this is why Gachagua is home. He was unable to lead Kenyans. I saw him stand and claim that I was sent with Ksh2 million to PCEA church to quell them,” the Kapseret MP stated.

“I want to tell Gachagua that for your information, the work that I have done in church within Kapseret, you cannot do, if Mrs Dorcas leaves you, you are a big crook.”
