President Uhuru Kenyatta has told Mount Kenya residents to stop receiving theft money meant for dams in Elkeyo Marakwet County.

Speaking in Sagana on Wednesday, the President took issue with church leaders whom he said have been receiving money from corrupt politicians.

“Church leaders, stop lying to our people. Tell them the truth. We all love God and we love peace. We offer what we have. Don’t come here because you have been given theft offering to lie to us,” Uhuru said.

The Head of State, in an apparent reference to his deputy William Ruto, said politicians should stop deceiving Kenyans by carrying Bibles.

“You cannot give us theft money and come holding biblical books and lie to us. You are headed to Jehanum. You cannot be offering theft money meant for dams to church,” he stated.

The President also thanked Mount Kenya residents for giving him a chance to lead, saying he has delivered on his promises.

“I’m grateful because of the job you gave me. My worry now is how the country will go forward,” Uhuru said.

He further said he was focused on finishing his work and will be around to see how the country will be governed.

“I want to finish my work. Tutakuwa tukipatana mitaani mniambie kama wale mliochagua wanatekeleza waliyowaahidi. Msikubali kudanganya (We will meet in these streets and you will tell me if the people you elected are delivering on their promises. Don’t be lied to),” he said.
