‘Stop overpromising and go to work’ – Salasya advises Ruto on how to earn respect from young people
Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has issued unsolicited advice to President William Ruto in a bid to quell the disquiet within his administration.
In a video message shared on Sunday, December 29, 2024, the vocal lawmaker argued that Ruto’s administration had been subjected to harsh criticism for failing to honour promises and acting on major issues affecting the community.
Salasya explained that most Kenyans are still demanding answers on what transpired regarding several bodies that were retrieved from the Kware area, Nairobi.
The lawmaker added that a section of other Kenyans are still demanding accountability over police actions at the height of the anti-finance bill 2024 protests.
Moreover, Salasya slammed Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) maintaining that they had failed to articulate issues affecting their dockets, making Ruto stand out as the only government mouthpiece.
To turn around the tide, Salasya called on President Ruto to embark on service delivery and abandon making other promises that he could not honour.
With many leaders calling for the respect of the Head of State, Salasya told Ruto that he could earn back the veneration by delivering on his campaign pledges.
“I want to ask you, the president, to abandon the internet, stop overpromising, and go to work, and these young people will respect you,” Salasya stated.
“In Kenya there is freedom, and that freedom must be exercised,” he added.
Raise your children well
Salasya made the sentiments in the wake of many calls from the political class asking parents to raise their children well. President Ruto ignited the calls while speaking in Homa Bay County, prompting other leaders to join the train in asking parents to cultivate proper morals in their kids.
“I want to ask every parent to take care of their children… these children are God-given to us, and we must take responsibility… We are going to stop the abductions so that our youth can live peacefully, and my government is going to do its part to ensure even the youth are responsible enough so that together we build Kenya,” Ruto stated.
He further vowed to bring an end to abductions in the country following an uproar from a section of Kenyans.
“As a government, we will do our part, and the issue of abductions will end in the country so the youth can live in harmony and the youth can become people of integrity and respect to move the country forward,” Ruto said.
