Former Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general Wilson Sossion has lauded a couple of President William Ruto’s latest nominees for cabinet roles.

Speaking during a live interview on Thursday, March 27, Sossion vouched for Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku and Hanna Wendot Cheptumo’s appointments to boost the administration’s capacity to deliver service to its citizens.

Cheptumo was nominated to head the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage.

In his sentiments, Sossion posited that the two not only engender the right personality but also possess the requisite qualifications to undertake the tasks ahead of them.

Grounded leader

“ I have to congratulate Ruku for his appointment to the cabinet. He is a grounded leader and focused. He is a man who really understands the policy of the Kenya Kwanza administration and why it must be implemented. I congratulate him,” Sossion said.

On the appointment of Cheptumo, who is set to oversee the gender docket, the former nominated MP affirmed that Wendot can successfully leverage her legal background to her new role.

Service delivery

“ I also congratulate Hannah Cheptumo, a lawyer of many years standing, a very experienced lawyer going in to man the Ministry of Gender and Culture. Of course, the entry of these two strong people in the cabinet answers the question of making the cabinet stronger and leadership at the ministries to be executed more effectively so that services are delivered to Kenya,” he added.

Speaking on the same day after being entrusted with the ministerial role, Ruku thanked President William Ruto for handing him the responsibility as he pledged to serve with the same determination and diligence that have defined his tenure as an MP.

“It is a tremendous privilege to have served as the MP for Mbeere North, a role I have undertaken with utmost diligence, ensuring the well-being and progress of the people. The president has now entrusted me with even greater responsibility, and for that, I extend my deepest gratitude to him. His recognition of my work is an immense sign of respect, and I do not take it lightly,” Ruku stated.

He affirmed that, should Parliament approve his appointment, he would devote himself fully to the role, ensuring that the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes plays a pivotal role in driving national growth and social transformation.

“If Parliament deems me worthy of this responsibility, I solemnly pledge that I will not disappoint the President, the government, or the people of Kenya. I will put in relentless effort, work with absolute dedication, and serve with unyielding commitment to ensure that our administration’s agenda is successfully implemented,” he declared.
