‘Leave the dynasties if you want to become president’ – Sonko urges Kalonzo to ditch Raila for Ruto

By , November 5, 2022

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has beseeched Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition for a position in President William Ruto’s government.

Speaking at the burial of Senator Daniel Maanzo’s mother in Makueni county on Friday, November 4, the former county head stated that the Wiper Party supremo could be the next president of Kenya if he dumps the opposition as early as now.

“You can be the next president of Kenya. Leave the dynasties. Those close to you fear telling you the truth. I will not. Any Kamba leader who tries to become the next president before Kalonzo shall be cursed by God. We are behind you and are ready to support you, but I am asking you to please join the government so that we can help our people,” Sonko said.

Sonko further claimed that Kalonzo’s continued stay in Raila’s camp will only leave the Ukambani region lagging behind in terms of development.

In a quick rebuttal, Kalonzo told the controversial politician to tell President Ruto that he remains firmly rooted in the opposition outfit.

“Go tell your friend William Ruto to move out of the way. We have agreed to do our work as a loyal and serious opposition. I have no problem with my younger brother Ruto and if the job (presidency) becomes hard, he should move out of the way,” Kalonzo stated.
