‘You are lying’- Sifuna tells off Hussein Mohamed over statement disputing ODM, Ruto meeting
By Mustafa Juma, September 11, 2024Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has told off State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed over his statement disputing a meeting between a section of the Orange party members and President William Ruto.
Sifuna’s response
Sifuna while responding to the statement that had been issued via X on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Nairobi county senator said Hussein was lying.
Hussein had disputed reports that President Ruto had held a meeting at State House, Nairobi, with a section of ODM members from Nairobi.
Some ODM members are said to have boycotted the meeting, reports that Hussein has dismissed, stating that no such meeting was convened.
However, Sifuna, who is among the ODM members said to have boycotted the State House meeting, holds a contrary opinion.
“You are lying Omwami,” Sifuna responded to the State House Spokesperson’s statement.

One of the country’s local dailies had on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, ran a story claiming that a section of ODM Nairobi MPs had been invited for a meeting at the State House by the President but failed to show up.
Hussein refutes meeting reports
Hussein in his response termed the reports as “misleading, mischievous and baseless”.
“We have taken note of the splash story in the ‘Daily Nation’ today Wednesday 11th September 2024, titled “Why Raila MPs skipped Ruto meeting.” The story is not only misleading but also mischievous and baseless,” he said.
He went ahead to state that President Ruto had been accompanied by a section of Nairobi MPs during his tour of Kibera on Monday, September 9, 2024, where he inspected the Kibera Soweto East Zone B Affordable Housing Project.

After the inspection, Hussein said, the MPs in attendance accompanied the President to State House for an informal lunch.
Hussein further pointed out that running a story on a source outside the S official channels is both misleading and irresponsible.
“On Monday, 9th September, 2024, President William Ruto inspected the progress of the 4,054-unit Kibera Soweto East Zone B Affordable Housing Project in Nairobi County. After the event, the MPs in attendance accompanied the President to State House for an informal lunch.
“Contrary to the story by ‘Daily Nation’, there was no formal meeting as suggested. State House communicates or invites MPs or any other individuals or groups through official channels only. For ‘Daily Nation’ to base its story on a source outside these official channels is both misleading and irresponsible,” Hussein stated.
