Siaya residents celebrate nomination of MP Opiyo Wandayi as Energy CS
Hundreds of Siaya residents joined traders and Boda Boda operators in song and dance as they welcomed the nomination of Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi’s as Energy Cabinet Secretary.
The Boda Boda operators hooted in the streets of Siaya Town as residents went around with placards, thanking President William Ruto for considering the Luo nation with a cabinet portfolio.
Some placards read, ‘Baba is always right. We fully support dialogue’.
Led by Antony Ochillo, they also celebrated former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and John Mbadi’s appointments for National Treasury and Cooperative Development ministerial dockets, respectively.
“The direction the president has taken has defused protests, and its cabinet has a national outlook. We Siaya Gen Zs are a happy lot.
“The pending appointments should accommodate ex-ICT CS Eliud Owalo. His outstanding performance in the past two years is voluminous,” Ochillo said.
The residents also put on notice the nominees, saying service delivery to the people should be supreme.
“Those who shall be absorbed in government after being vetted by the National Assembly must not be bosses and should roll their sleeves to work for the people.
“The influential positions are not comfort zones. Going forward, it shall be a hot seat. We want more service delivery. We have not fought for you to end your term while stinking rich but to ensure sound policies are drafted to ensure the country’s economy stabilizes and the high cost of living is brought down.
“The corruption that has been the order of the day must be dealt with. We will not tire of dealing with those adversely mentioned in corrupt deals,” Austine Ochieng said.
The President is in the process of fully forming his cabinet for work to begin after he dissolved the previous cabinet after pressure from protesting Gen Z.
