Bondo ACK Bishop David Kodia has called on politicians to shun greed and instead work to uplift the living standards of Kenyans.

The political class need to live a life of service rather than thinking only of themselves, Kodia said during his sermon at Ralingo ACK church in Rarieda, Siaya county.

He urged politicians to prioritise the welfare of the masses who elected them. Among the politicians in the congregation were Siaya Governor James Orengo, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.

“It is important for politicians to prioritise the welfare of the masses on whose shoulders you ride to power. These masses are suffering because of politicians’ greed,” he said.

“To avoid the wrath of God, you must reduce your greed and selfishness and make life bearable for the poor. “You must all recognise the fact that political authority is temporary and you will account for every action you took while in office on the day of judgment.”

Responding to the sermon, Tuju said he would not tire of supporting initiatives that uplift people’s lives.

“I have partnered with Safaricom to equip the church with ICT facilities including computers,” he said.

“The equipment will go a long way in supporting digital literacy.” Orengo lauded the ICT hub, saying it should be replicated in parts of the county. “It’s very rewarding to see people use technology to earn a living in the village,” Orengo said.
