Shamas and Kabarak RFC promoted to Championship

Shamas Foundation overran Kabarak University 39-8 in the KRU Nationwide Cup final held at the RFUEA grounds to stage for next season’s rivalry in the Championship after both sides earned promotion  to the second tier league. 

 The duo qualified for the Championship league courtesy of attaining wins in the Nationwide semi-finals and will now join 10 other sides in search of two slots in the Kenya Cup, the country’s top and most revered men’s 15s league.

 Shamas Foundation kicked off the proceedings at the  RFUEA grounds on Saturday on a high to lead 27-0 before the visitors could discover the try box with one unconverted try in Nairobi. 

 Emmanuel Mumoki scored Kabarak’s only try that was not enough to deter a 27-5 lead nor was Aden Noor’s last-minute penalty kick  as the hosts returned to shoot up the lead to 39-8 at full time.
