Shabana asks for Sh30m from Sports Fund to honour matches

Former Kenyan Premier League side Shabana is asking the government to bail them out ahead of the National Super League kick-off on Sunday where they begin their campaign with a match against Nairobi City Stars at Hope Centre.
According to the team’s Organising Secretary Stephen Kiama, they have a budget of Sh 30 million and yet their coffers don’t have a single cent at the moment.
“With the withdrawal of key betting companies from sports, we are requesting the government through the sports fund to come to our aid,” Kiama told People Sport.
He added: “Our opening match is against City Stars in Nairobi, then we host Muranga Steel in Kisii the next weekend, before we are expected to travel to Mombasa to face Modern Coast. All these movements cannot be achieved without financial support.”
