The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced that validated claims from healthcare providers affected by facility-level mismatches will be paid by Wednesday, December 24, 2025, following the completion of the first batch of reviews.

In a public notice in X post dated December 22, 2025, by SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi, it stated that the first batch of contractual and facility record reviews had been completed.

“The Social Health Authority (SHA) notifies healthcare providers affected by facility-level mismatches that the first batch of contractual and facility record reviews has been completed,” SHA said.

SHA further explained the handling of claims during this period: “SHA reviewed claims submitted during the amendment period in accordance with the updated contract status. Validated claims will be paid by Wednesday, 24/12/2025.”

The timely payment commitment aims to support healthcare providers in maintaining service delivery ahead of the holiday period. The update comes as part of SHA’s ongoing efforts to streamline contractual agreements and ensure accurate claim processing under the Social Health Insurance framework.

Verification and contract amendments

The notice details the verification process undertaken by SHA. “SHA verified facility licensing records with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

SHA also confirmed the applicable Kenya Essential Package for Health (KEPH) Level. Facilities needed to amend their contracts to align with their declared status. Those who have finished this process have been cleared.”

This amendment process was necessary to ensure alignment between the facilities’ declared capabilities and their actual licensing and service levels. Facilities that completed the required contract amendments have been cleared for further processing.

Provider guidance

Healthcare providers seeking information on the status of their facilities are directed to specific channels. The notice advises: “To access the list of facilities that have been cleared or are seeking assistance, please contact the SHA through the following authorised channels: providermanagement@sha.go.ke, SHA County Office Manager, or the toll-free line 0800 720 601.”

The announcement concludes with appreciation for providers’ cooperation. “We appreciate your dedication and partnership.”

This development follows SHA’s verification collaboration with KMPDC and confirmation of KEPH levels, ensuring contractual accuracy. Facilities that aligned their contracts promptly have now been cleared, paving the way for the upcoming payments.

Providers are encouraged to use the provided contact channels for any inquiries regarding cleared facilities or assistance needs.
