Serem to lift farmers as she unveils governor bid

Former ambassador to China Sarah Serem has officially launched her Uasin Gishu gubernatorial.

Serem, who unveiled her bid at her Kapseret home at the weekend, expressed optimism of capturing the seat. She will run on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

“I want to give my expertise to my community. I have no doubt that I can offer the best to this county.  I want to take back this county to the people,” she said.

Former Salaries and Remuneration Commission chairperson noted that her administration’s main focus will be productivity in agriculture through value addition.

“We do not want our farmers to become only labourers but also producers and beneficiaries of the same agricultural products,” she said .

In an interview with People Daily, Serem  also pledged to empower the youth, women and People Living and With Disabilities.

She said her administration will also create a farmers training and research centers on Agribusiness.
