Kitui Senator Enock Wambua has sensationally stated that President William Ruto will not get even a single vote in the Ukambani region.

The Wiper Party-allied senator made the sentiments while disagreeing with his senate counterpart Abdi Roba during a political function in Kitui County on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

The United Democratic Movement member had taken the podium and slammed the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for advancing politics of deception. He went on to affirm his support for the broad-based system under Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Mlisema nini eti, Ruto ni nini? We respect my brother, and he is entitled to his opinion. I will only tell him the truth that here in Ukambani there is not even a single vote for Ruto,” Wambua stated while countering Senator Roba.

Wambua further affirmed the region’s newfound union between Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democracy For Citizens Party’s (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua remains unbreakable.

Union with cousins

“We have been managed for a long time, but this time we and our cousins from the mountain won’t be separated again. “We will stand together,” he stated.

His remarks were preceded by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who also took a swipe at the president and his regime, calling his administration the biggest impediment to devolution.

Sifuna, while speaking at the function, opined the people at the State House have been a major hindrance to attaining the full benefits of devolution.

He added that ousting the regime was the only viable option for the devolved units to function and benefit the citizens at the grassroots as envisaged by the constitution.

Big problem

“We are saying we must solve the biggest problem in Kenya, which is at the state house. If we don’t address that, even if you put good people in the counties, Kasongo will still hold you down,” he said while commenting on the topic of the devolved entities.

Sifuna reiterated his personal commitment to ensuring devolution works as the devolved units were envisaged during the promulgation of the 2010 constitution.

“As Sifuna, I have said my biggest goal is not to become a governor but to get a president who believes in devolution and supports it as we wanted it to work,” he stated.
