Senator seeks statement over Vihiga VTCs
Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi has sought a statement from the Committee on Education regarding the state of Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in county.
This is after tutors and other workers in various VTCs across the county went on strike demanding payment of salaries and good working environment from the county government.
Said Osotsi; “I would like the Committee to:- provide a breakdown of the annual budgetary allocation vis-a-vis actual expenditure for the financial years 2019/20 to-date.”
The breakdown, according to Osotsi, should indicate the specific allocation and expenditure for Early Childhood Development Education(ECDE), County Bursaries, Governor’s Scholarship Fund and VTCs.

He also wants to be furnished with a monthly breakdown of the salaries paid to employees of the VTCs and other related institutions, indicating the status of remittance of statutory deductions to the relevant institutions and explaining any accumulation of salary arrears.
He also wants the county government to provide a breakdown of all liabilities owed by the VTCs and other related institutions to suppliers.
