Senator Methu asks youth to continue speaking fearlessly
Nyandarua Senator John Methu has described Kenya’s youth as the heartbeat of the nation as the country joins the world in marking International Youth Day.
Taking to his X account on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Methu, a sharp critic of the current administration led by President William Ruto, has challenged the country’s young population to ‘dream boldly and speak fearlessly’ amid the escalating political tension in the country.
Methu’s message to the youth
”To our young people, you are the heartbeat of our nation and the changemakers of today. Dream boldly, speak fearlessly, and act with purpose. I stand with you in building a future of hope, justice, and opportunity for all.” Methu said.
In a message marking International Youth Day, Methu further lauded the resilience and vision of young people, noting their growing role in national discourse and action.
”Kenya’s youth are awake, bold, united, and shaping the nation today. In recent days, you have shown courage, demanded accountability, and stood for a better tomorrow,” the senator said.
Methu, who has been vocal on matters of governance and public service delivery, emphasised the power of youth voices in influencing policy and societal transformation. He encouraged young people to speak out and also take leadership roles in shaping the country’s destiny.
”On this International Youth Day, I celebrate your voice, your vision, and your power to transform Kenya’s future,” he added.
His statement comes at a time when the senator has been actively engaging with the public, particularly the youth, in various forums addressing national governance, civic responsibility, and community development.
Methu’s message aligns with a growing wave of youth activism in Kenya, where young people are increasingly leveraging social media, grassroots movements, and civic action to push for transparency, inclusivity, and economic reforms.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto led the country in marking the International Youth Day in Kakamega. The Head of State praised the knowledge, energy, innovation, and expertise of Kenya’s youth, calling them the true architects of the nation’s future.
“We are very proud of our young people, their knowledge, their energy, their innovation, their expertise. Today, we come here to celebrate International Youth Day,” said President Ruto.
