Security beefed up in Parliament as Treasury CS set to read budget

There is tight security around parliamentary buildings ahead of the reading of the 2023/2024 budget by the National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u.

The budget will be read at 2:30 pm Thursday, June 15. This is the first budget in the administration of President Ruto, who assumed office in September last year.

In the said budget, the government is expected to collect 2.1 trillion in order to fund the expenditure which is inclusive of the public debt which surpassed Ksh10 trillion mark in June, according to a parliamentary report.
